- W2020281437 abstract "Three experiments are described on the effect of relative signal frequency on CRT. In the first study, a highly compatible letter naming task was used, in which two types of responses were compared, i.e. with response information in either the first or second phoneme. An effect of relative signal frequency was only found when response information was in the first phoneme, which suggests that motor preparation, peculiar to a specific response is a determinant of the relative frequency effect. Comparison of a compatible and incompatible letter naming tasks shows that a mechanism, which translates signals into responses, is a second determining factor of the relative frequency effect, operating independently from and additive to motor preparation. In the third experiment the use of an information reduction paradigm to study the origins of the relative frequency effect is discussed and experimentally pursued. It is argued that this method measures the degree of S-R interference rather than possible stimulus and response effects." @default.
