- W2020378181 abstract "Abstract We report the electric-field-induced ionisation, of both the negatively, X − , and the positively, X + , charged excitons in remotely doped GaAs quantum wells (QWs). The photoluminescence (PL) spectra demonstrate that the binding energy of the second confined electron (hole) is sharply reduced for X − (X + ) by an electric field applied normal to the QW layers. Due to its larger spatial extent, X + ionises at lower electric fields than X − . The electric field dependence of the excited triplet state of X − , X − t , which becomes stable in an applied magnetic field, is also studied. We find X − t is less sensitive to ionisation by electric fields than the singlet state, X − s , in good agreement with calculations using a finite basis set of electron and hole Landau levels." @default.
