- W2020399209 abstract "Soluble polynaphthylene sulphides synthesized by polycondensation of naphthylene with sulphur in the presence of AlCl3 have a significantly higher resistance to thermal oxidation than linear poly-1,4-phenylene sulphide: according to TGA data, 5 and 10% weight losses of both types of polymers occur in air at 525 and 550°C in the case of polynaphthylene sulphide and 400 and 440°C in the case of poly-1,4-phenylene sulphide. It is established that growth of the polymer chains on polycondensation of naphthalene with sulphur in the presence of AlCl3 takes place because of two competing reactions, i.e. polysulphidation and dehydropolycondensation of napthalene under the action of AlCl3, the second process predominating. The effect of syntheses conditions on the ratio of the competing reactions, and on the structure and properties of the sulphur-containing poly-naphthylenes formed is studied." @default.
