It was found that the highest sorption occurred on a PVC-based flooring material followed by water-based paint surfaces and oil-based paint surfaces. An investigation of the kinetics of adsorption indicated that mercury vapor is poorly sorbed by solid nonliving surfaces in a manner suggesting very weak interactions with the surface. Desorption rates for surface-adsorbed mercury were obtained and used in a model room situation to evaluate the contribution of mercury from this source to its vapor concentration in a contaminated indoor environment." @default.
