• W2020512598 abstract "Summary: To isolate the Candida genus, we cultured 886 samples of different biological substrates obtained from 579 patients suffering from malignant neoplasms of different localizations. Yeast-like fungi were isolated from these patients in 29.9 ± 1.9 per cent. A study of the clinical data obtained from the same patients showed that 13.3 ± 1.4 per cent of them had clinical symptoms of candidiasis and a high content of the Candida fungi in the above-mentioned substrates (up to 108 cells per substrate unit). The number of such patients was greatest among lung, bronchial, urinogenital, blood and gastrointestinal patients. The number of patients who showed a high content of the yeast-like fungi (105 or more colonies per millilitre or gram) but no clinical symptoms of candidiasis, i. e. the risk group, amounted to 10.9 ± 1.3 per cent. Only 4.0 ± 0.8 per cent of cases who yielded the fungi showed no risk of developing secondary candidiasis. Zusammenfassung: Von 579 Patienten mit malignen Tumoren unterschiedlicher Lokalisation wurden 886 Proben verschiedener biologischer Untersuchungsmaterialien auf Candida-Arten untersucht. Bei 29,9 ± 1,9 Prozent der Patienten fanden sich hefeartige Pilze. 13,3 ± 1,4 Prozent der Patienten mit Pilznachweis hatten klinische Zeichen einer Candidose und wiesen erhöhte Zellzahlen von Candida-Pilzen in den Untersuchungsmaterialien auf. Es wurden bis zu 108 Zellen pro Substrateinheit gefunden. Derartige Befunde wurden vor allem bei Patienten mit Tumoren folgender Organe erhoben: Lunge, Bronchien, Urogenitaltrakt, Gastrointestinaltrakt und Blut. Patienten mit hohen Zellzahlen (105 oder mehr Zellen pro ml oder g Substrat), jedoch ohne klinische Erscheinungen einer Candidose wurden als Risikogruppe eingestuft und machten 10,9 ± 1,3 Prozent aus.
