However, it has now been adequately demonstrated that denitrification with methanol results in a selective enrichment for bacteria belonging to the genus Hyphomicrobium. Based on current available biochemical knowledge of nitrate reduction and assimilation, methanol oxidation and assimilation and the energy yield and requirements for these reactions, it is theoretically possible to develop an equation which describes the stoichiometry of denitrification with methanol." @default.
