- W2021302147 abstract "Thus far, most of the conclusions about the intelligence of Black people have been arrived at on the basis of circumstantial rather than direct evidence since the psychological and social experiences of Blacks are rarely placed at the center of scientific investigation. The tendency has been to view the differences between Blacks and Whites as the primary and only constitutive characteristics of the Black mind. Observations of a relative value have been presented as though absolute. This tendency to generalize is comparable to expecting a few leaves to hide a forest. For, even if one accepts these racial differences as valid, they only reveal how the Black intellect does not operate. They reveal precious little about how it does function. The present study proposes a structural model that will account very clearly for significant aspects of Blacks' cognitive development and also lead to alternative perspectives in the study of human intelligence in general. Indeed, this inquiry will begin by outlining the principal shortcomings of prevalent models of intelligence as elaborated in differential psychology. Various theoretical lines and findings will then be articulated into a new, more comprehensive structure. Finally, within this framework, this article will discuss how best to understand differences in intellectual modus operandi between Blacks and Whites." @default.
