A high concentration (10 –5 M) slightly decreased the mean O 2 uptake and a still higher concentration (10 –3 M) decreased O 2 uptake when compared to O 2 uptake of untreated semen. The response of O 2 uptake to sodium arsenite varied greatly according to the individual semen sample. When the individual semen sample response was related to the fertilizing capacity of the semen, a negative relationship was found.
