- W2021817246 abstract "The electrode polarisation capacitance of potassium bromide single crystals has been measured at frequencies between 0·01 Hz and 50 Hz in the temperature range 1·3 < 1000/T < 2·0 Kr−1. Specimens doped with both cationic and anionic divalent impurities have been employed. The measurements strongly suggest that the observed capacitance arises due to charge storage in the surface layers. The surface capacitance was found to vary approximately as an ω−1/2 dependence over most of the range of temperatures used in this work.Numerical analysis showed that this cannot be accounted for by standard blocking electrode theories nor yet by charge storage under either depletion layer or accumulation layer conditions. It is suggested that the surface capacitance arises from a specific adsorption of the majority carriers (vacancies) at the electrode-crystal interface coupled to a supply mechanism of the majority carriers from bulk to surface. The surface capacitance does not depend strongly upon doping concentration except at low temperatures and high frequencies, but it varies markedly with the particular impurity employed." @default.
