- W2022103571 abstract "The correct surgical management of glaucoma is still an unsettled problem. This paper deals with the limited aid which gonioscopy and biomicroscopy can offer the clinical ophthalmologist in a rational approach to the surgical treatment of glaucoma. It is a summary of our experience with patients of the Meyer Service who have been followed in the glaucoma clinic of the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. SO-CALLED PRIMARY GLAUCOMA Acute Glaucoma; Chronic Congestive Glaucoma; Narrow Angle Glaucoma. —The onset of acute glaucoma is manifested by severe pain, with pronounced congestion of the eye and occasional chemosis. Occasionally there may be various degrees of congestion in chronic congestive glaucoma. Acute primary glaucoma presents a grave ophthalmologic emergency, owing to its fulminating character. Its most important characteristic is the presence of a shallow anterior chamber or a narrow angle. If the chamber is normal or deep, the condition is probably not acute primary" @default.
