- W2022154092 abstract "1. Parartemia zietziana is a hyperosmotic regulator in dilute media and an extremely powerful hypo-osmotic regulator in highly saline media. 2. The extent of hypo-osmotic regulation is affected by temperature and by acclimation history. 3. Sodium and chloride are the dominant ions in the haemolypmh; they, along with potassium, magnesium and calcium, usually are regulated hypo-ionically. 4. Potassium-enriched sea water proved lethal to P. zietsiana; survivorship was high in magnesium-enriched sea water. 5. The powers of hypo-osmotic regulation displayed by P. zietsiana are similar to those of Artemia; the ionic consstituency of the haemolymph of both species is similar. 6. It is suggested that these similar powers of hypo-osmotic regulation have been independently evolved." @default.
