- W2022350511 abstract "Abstract Intragastric pressure has been measured in the rat under conditions of free feeding and gastric counterinfusion during free feeding. Gastric relaxation resulting in a plateauing of pressure was demonstrated in both cases. While counterinfused animals had additional volume entering the stomach via a direct route that bypassed pregastric oropharyngeal sensors, the relative pressure did not increase over the not-counterinfused animals. This data suggests that there is not a precise metering and gradation of vagal messages arising from deglutition. The stomach musculature is able to relax to a greater degree than that indicated by deglutition signals alone. The nature of such additional relaxation is not known." @default.
