- W2022635064 abstract "Abstract 1. 1. Biomphalaria glabrata responds to anoxic conditions by switching to metabolic pathways which yield acetate and propanoate as major acid end products, together with succinate and d - and l -lactate in smaller amounts. 2. 2. With the exception of d -lactate, none of these chemicals was excreted into the medium under oxic conditions. However, after anoxia both acetate and propanoate were released in appreciable quantities, along with succinate, d - and l -lactate to a lesser extent. 3. 3. The results are compared with those obtained for other aquatic invertebrates and their implications to the physiology and behaviour of B. glabrata considered." @default.
