- W2022648840 abstract "Photochemical conversion of diphenyl stilbene from trans to cis form in a microemulsion is investigated to establish a connection between the structure of a medium and reaction rates. The microemulsion consists of sodium dodecyl sulfate, 2-methyl-2-butanol, benzene, and water. Its structure was established earlier by conductivity. Our results show that catalysis occurs at two transitions from water in oil to bicontinuous and from bicontinuous to oil in water. Similar observations for a variety of reactions investigated in the literature suggest a deep connection between structural transitions and reaction rates. Investigations in benzene and methanol mixtures where no structural transitions are expected did not show catalysis. Intuitive arguments are given to support this connection." @default.
