- W2022750072 abstract "This chapter explores the recent developments in multiple pulse NMR. It also discusses some of the major advances, such as the general introduction of two-dimensional NMR techniques, the DEPT sequence for editing heteronuclear spectra, and composite pulse decoupling. The developments of the past five years have involved the clarification of many detailed points, and the establishment of conventions as well as the evaluation of particular methods in practical applications. The chapter discusses that multidimensional NMR experiments show up particular weaknesses in notation: insisting on labeling the frequency dimensions in the order of the evolution periods means that the familiar single quantum spectrum is sometimes denoted as “F2” and may even be relegated to “F3”. It explains that if the two-dimensional experiment correlates essentially identical sets of frequencies as in the homonuclear correlation spectroscopy (COSY) experiment, but, since the F2 or F3 dimension is normally transformed first to be followed by transposition and a second Fourier transform of F1, the notation could be made more helpful to the spectrometer user. Despite the importance of two-dimensional methods, it should not be forgotten that many of the most useful multiple pulse experiments applied to liquids are one-dimensional." @default.
