The experimental excitation functions can be reproduced by the statistical calculation by use of a level density formula of the form either W1(E) = C exp [2{a1(E−δ)}12] or W2(E) = C(E − δ)−2 exp[2{a2(E − δ)}12], if values of a1 between 1 and 4 MeV−1 or of a2 between 4 and 7 MeV−1 are used and Cameron's pairing energy P is taken as − δ. It seems very likely that other reasonable choices of δ give values of the parameters a1 or a2 which are close to the above mentioned values. Grover's theory, which takes into account the angular momentum effect and gamma competition, is discussed. The (α, n) isometric cross section ratios agree with the prediction of Bishop et al. The sums of the observed reaction cross sections are consistent with the capture cross sections calculated by Igo from the optical model." @default.
