- W2022851437 abstract "Human promyelocytes (HL-60) differentiated to granulocytes by dimethylsulfoxide were exposed in suspension culture for 15 min to so-called Interferential Current at a current density of 250 μA/cm2. Interferential Current, an amplitude-modulated (`beating') waveform with widespread therapeutical application, was obtained by superposition of two sinewave signals of equal amplitude centered at 4000 Hz and shifted in frequency between 0 and 125 Hz. In response to this `modulation' frequency, the production of reactive oxygen species was quantified via light emission in Luminol. In addition, cellular ATP and ADP levels were determined using the luciferin/luciferase assay. Measurements were carried out with and without pre-stimulation of the cells with zymosan. In no case, significant changes between exposed and sham-exposed samples were obtained suggesting that the electric current does not interfere with processes of the respiratory burst and the energy level of the cells." @default.
