- W2022859327 abstract "The closed cycle (AK process) originated in Europe in 1935 with the first application for patents on the system. Development since that time has been through the efforts of Escher Wyss of Switzerland and its licensees. Since the early 1950’s the U. S. Army has been a leading proponent of this concept for use within a compact, mobile nuclear power plant. Of major importance to this cycle is the selection of an optimized turbine compressor set in order to achieve the most useful work per pound of gas circulated. This will result in the achievement of highest system efficiency and the smallest component size possible. This paper will show a practical method for the selection of optimum pressure ratio for the turbine compressor set and compare predicted results with test results obtained at the Advanced Power Conversion Experimental Facility at Fort Belvoir, VA." @default.
