- W2022970053 abstract "Several tetrachlorometallate (MCl4−x) complexes have been prepared in benzene by reacting the solid metal salts with a solution of a long-chain, high molecular weight quaternary salt or an amine hydrochloride. The resulting complexes have been studied by far infrared spectrometry. Evidence of cation effects on the distortion of the anion have been observed. Force constant calculations have been carried out assuming a Urey-Bradley force field. For the complexes of the first row transition metals, the M-Cl force constants (stretch) are in the order Mn 〈Co〉 Ni < Zn which is the same order as the ligand field stabilization energies in a tetrahedral field. For the Al, Ga, In series, the order of the force constants is Al > Ga > In as one would expect." @default.
