- W2022976654 abstract "Low-energy ion scattering, using 4 keV Ne+ ions, has been used to study the adsorption of oxygen on a Cu{110} surface for coverages just above half a monolayer. At this second adsorption stage the Ne+|Oad reflection signal decreases upon further oxygen uptake. By measuring the reflection signal at varied experimental conditions it is found that (i) the second adsorption stage involves a site essential different from the first stage, (ii) adsorption as a function of exposure is about three orders of magnitude slower than in the first stage, and (iii) upon desorption by ion bombardment the second-stage sites are depleted faster. A model is proposed that consistently and quantitatively describes all these experimental results." @default.
