- W2023136452 abstract "The kinetics of acrylonitrile (AN) polymerization induced by fast electrons with an energy of 1.6 Mev were investigated over the temperature range - 198 to 0 deg C. Calorimetric determinations showed thnt solid phase polymerization of AN, excepting slow post-effects occurs directly in the solid phase and not in the course of the following thawing process, despite the fact that the shape and intensity of the EPR signal appearing during irradiation is retained after its interruption. There is practically no activation energy of the solid phase polymerization. From --198 to -150 deg yield limit is observed at large doses and there is no post-effect. Post polymerization takes place from -140 deg C until the melting point, the activation energy of this process being 3 kcal/mole. The specific fentures of solid phase polymerization in the course of irradiation may be due to the effective participation of short lived excited states in the propagation of the energy chains or change in state of the solid during irradiation.
