- W2023154906 abstract "Abstract Six buffers were tested in agar medium with Laccaria laccata (Scop. ex Fr.) Cke., Paxillus involutus (Batsch. ex Fr.) and Pisolithus tinctorius (Pers.) Coker & Couch. Both acetate and ADA (N-[2-acetamido] iminodiacetic acid) were inhibitory to radial growth of all three species. ACES (N-[2-acetamido]-2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) had a variable effect on radial growth depending on fungal species. The effect of glycine was inconclusive due to the elevation of pH following autoclaving of the media containing this buffer. MES (2-[N-morpholino] ethanesulfonic acid) enhanced the growth of all three fungal species PIPES (piperazine-N,N′-bis[2-ethanesulfonic acid]) also stimulated radial growth, but only two of the three species were affected. Laccaria laccata and P. involutus were also grown in liquid media containing either an inorganic (iP) or organic (oP) P source and MES, PIPES or phthalate or no buffer at all. As in the case of solid media, effects not only varied with type of buffer, but fungal species reacted differently to a given buffer. For example. MES enhanced growth of L. laccata on both media, but reduced oP hydrolysis by this species. P. involutus growth was enhanced by MES only on iP medium. PIPES enhanced fungal growth and did not interfere with the hydrolysis of oP nor the uptake of P by the fungi." @default.
