• W2023191418 abstract "Summary: The occurrence of fungi of the genera Epidermophyton, Microsporum, Tri-chophyton and Chrysosporium in dust collected from 10 ferry boats and 11 railway cars in Italy was studied. Ferry boats: 101 colonies of fungi were isolated. Of the dermatophytes, E. flocco-sum represented 2,0% of all the colonies isolated, M. canis 3,0%, M. gypseum 5,0% and Tr. mentagrophytes represented 2,0%. E. floccosum was isolated from 2 ferry boats, M. canis from 3, M. gypseum from 4 and Tr. mentagrophytesfrom. Only two ferry boats appeared to be free of pathogenic fungi. Of all the species isolated, Chr. pannorumwas the most numerous (45.4%). In all five species of Chrysosporium were isolated. Railway cars: The final destination of the trains, coming from various cities, was Rome's Termini Station. 336 strains were isolated. The following species were found: E. floccosum 3%, Tr. mentagrophytes 4.8 %, Tr. tonsurans 0.3 %, Tr. ajelloi 0.6 %, Trichophyton spp. 3 %, M. canis 5 % and M. gypseum 1.5 %. Seven differnt species of Chrysosporium were isolated. Chr. pannorum was the most numerous one (71 % of all). Regarding the occurrence of dermatophytes, E. jloccosunr was isolated from 8 of the 11 trains examined, M. canis from 10, M.gypseumfrom 4, Tr. mentagrophytesfrom 8 and Tr. tonsuransfrom only 1 of the trains. All of the trains were positive for pathogenic fungi, ranging from a minimum of 2 species to a maximum of 4. The isolation of these fungi must, however, be correlated with the circumstances which favored their survival, availability of keratinic material and the thoroughness of the train cleaning. In both of the environments examined, the presence of pathogenic fungi is believed to be traceable to passengers affected with dermatophytoses or the pets that traveled with some of them. M. gypseum, being a geophilic fungus, may have been introduced by wind currents dispersing its spores. Zusammenfassung: Es wurde der Pilzgehalt von Staubproben aus 10 Fähren und 11 Eisenbahnzugen in Italien hinsichtlich der Gattungen Epidermophyton, Microsporum, Trichophyton und Chrysasporium untersucht. Fahren: 101 Pilzkolonien wurden isoliert. Unter den Dermatophyten repräsentierte E. floccosum 2,0% aller isolierten Kolonien, M. canis 3,0%, M. gypseum 5,0% und Tr. mentagrophytes 2,0%. E. floccosum wurde von 2 Fähren, M. canis von 3, M. gypseumvon 4 und Tr. mentagrophytes von 2 isoliert. Nur 2 Fähren erwiesen sich alsfrei von pathogenen Pilzen. Von allen kolierten PilZen war Chr. pannorum der häufigste (45,4%). Insgesamt wurden 5 Chrysosporium Arten isoliert. Eisenbahnzüge: Die Endstation der Zuge, die aus verschiedenen Richtungen kamen, war Rom Hauptbahnhof. 336 Pilzstämme wurden isoliert. Folgende Arten wurden gefunden: E. jloccosum 3,0%, Tr. iizentagrophytes 4,8 %, Tr. tonsurans 0,3 %, Tr. ajelloi 0,6 %, Trichophyton spp. 3,0%, M. canis 5,0% und M. gpseum 1,5%. Sieben Chrysosporium-Arten wurden isoliert; Chr. pannorum war die häufigste (71,0%). An Dermatophyten wurde E. floccosumin 8 von 11 Zügen isoliert, M. canis in 10, M. gypseum in 4, Tr. mentagrophytes in 8 und Tr. tonsurans nur in einem. In sämtlichen Zügen wurden pathogene Pilze, und zwar zwischen 2 und 4 Arten, gefunden. Die Pilzisolierungen müssen jedoch mit überlebensfördernden Umweltbedingungen korreliert werden, wie dem Vorhandensein von keratinhaltigem Material und der Intensität der Reinigungsmaßnahmen.—In beiden geprüften Habitats kann die Gegenwart pathogener Pilze auf Dermatophytosebefallene Fahrgäste oder Tiere zurückgeführt werden. M. gypseum als geophiler Pilz mag durch Sporen mit der Luft zugeführt worden sein." @default.
