Epoxystearinsaure-methylester geht beim Erhitzen grostenteils in Ketostearinsaure-methylester uber. Changes in Methylesters of Fatty Acids during Oxidation and Thermal ActionMethyloleate hydroperoxide, obtained from methyl oleate by autoxidation, reacts under thermal action giving rise the methyl epoxy stearate according to Prileschajew-reaction. Methylester of epoxy stearic acid, on being heated, is converted predominantly to methyl ester of keto stearic acid. Apart from these two reactions, which proceed without any change in the number of carbon atoms in molecule, also other reactions take place in which either a break up of the carbon chain with the formation of medium chained aldehydes or ketones or on the other hand enlargement of the molecules with the formation of polymers occur. The main subjects of our investigations were the reactions, in which the number of C-atoms per molecule remained constant." @default.
