Djallonké female and male lambs (n = 552) were randomly allocated at birth to three treatment groups: Fenbendazole (PanacurR, Hoechst, Germany) at 10 mg/kg−1 BW; Fenbendazole + AmproliumR (a coccidiostat) at 10 mg/kg−1 BW; and control. Depending upon period of birth and season the two first groups were treated one to four times. Daily weight gain of treated lambs was higher (P < 0.05) than that of control lambs during the period from September to December corresponding to the end of the rainy season then slightly decreased thereafter. This reduction in live weight gain was attributed to shortage and poor quality of fodder during the dry season. Treatment with Fenbendazole alone or combined with Amprolium did not affect the rate of lamb mortality as equal number of deaths were observed in all groups. En 1989–1990, des essais de traitements antheIminthiques ont été ménés sur des agneaux de 0 à 12 mois dans la zone sub-humide du Mali pour évaluer l'effet du déparasitage interne sur la croissance et le taux de survie des jeunes. Les agneaux ont été repartis au hasard en trois groupes 1de traitement aussitôt après leur naissance. Les groupes 1 et 2 ont été traités respectivement au Panacur en raison de 10 mg/kg de poids vif et au Panacur associéà l'Amprolium à la mÊme dose. Le groupe 3 a servi de temoin sans traitement. Nous avons enregistré un gain moyen quotidien plus élévé (P < 0.05) chez les sujets traités par rapport au groupe temoin entre les mois de Septembre et Décembre. Cette différence devenait moins apparente en saison saison sèche. Le traitement au Panacur, seul ou en association avec l'Amprolium n'a pas contribuéà diminuer le taux de mortalité chez les jeunes." @default.
