• W2023240161 abstract "The excitation and emission spectra of YAl3B4O12 doped with Ce3+ and Bi3+ are reported. The Bi3+ emission spectrum at 4.2 K consists of a zero-phonon line associated with equidistant phonon sidebands. This emission is assigned to the P03→S01 transition. The intensity of the zero-phonon line is due to the mixing of the P03 and P13 levels by the linear term of the crystal field. The energy difference between the 3P0 and 3P1 levels is obtained from the spectra and from the temperature dependence of the decay time. The Ce3+ emission band at 4.2 K is structureless. The energy transfer in Y1−xCexAl3B4O12 (0&lt;x⩽0.3) and Y1−xBixAl3B4O12 (0&lt;x⩽0.23) doped with Tb3+ or Cr3+ is investigated. We found that the concentration quenching at 300 K in the samples with Bi is much more pronounced than in the samples with Ce. Energy migration in the Bi3+ subsystem occurs via the P13 level. In all samples, the transfer to Tb3+ or Cr3+ is not efficient due to the fact that the transfer processes are ’’trapping limited.’’ Furthermore, the temperature dependent characteristics of the Cr3+ ion emission are studied. At 4.2 K a line emission is observed which can be assigned to the E2→A24 transition. At higher temperatures (T&gt;150 K) a broad band emission appears. This emission originates from the thermally populated T24 level. Above ∼450 K the total Cr3+ ion emission intensity starts to quench via the T24 level." @default.
