- W2023270323 abstract "Abstract Caloglyphus boharti hypopi will apolyse at temperatures over 15°C and/or r.h. in excess of 97 per cent if they are isolated, but not if they are retained in old stock cultures. At temperatures over 15°C and r.h. over 97 per cent, certain concentrations of salts in the environment influenced termination of hypopi. There was an optimum concentration of NH 4 NO 3 for maximum hypopial termination and a concentration above which hypopial apolysis was completely inhibited. The optimum and inhibiting salt concentration for hypopi from old cultures was higher than for hypopi from young cultures. Certain concentrations of water extracts of culture debris and brewer's yeast resulted in either maximum apolysis or inhibition of hypopial apolysis. Hypopial termination is influenced by environmental osmotic pressure, which may vary with qualitative or quantitative aspects of food and/or debris in the microenvironment of the mite." @default.
