O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, utilizando-se duas especies florestais, o Ipe amarelo (Tabebuia chrysotricha) e a Leucena (Leucaena leucocephala), tres niveis de substrato, composto pela mistura de vermicomposto e solo arenoso (v:v) (0% vermicomposto: 100% solo; 25% vermicomposto: 75% solo; e 50% vermicomposto: 50% solo) com 9 repeticoes. A resposta a adicao de vermicomposto foi diferente entre as duas especies. A adicao de 25% de vermicomposto ao solo arenoso proporcionou maior crescimento nas mudas de Ipe amarelo e Leucena. Contudo, plantas de Leucena apresentaram maior altura, comprimento e area superficial especifica radicular que o Ipe amarelo em doses mais elevadas de vermicomposto adicionadas a solo arenoso. VERMICOMPOST EFFECTON SEDLINGS OF Tabebuia chrysotricha AND Leucaena leucocephala IN SANDY SOIL ABSTRACT With the soil degradation process, extensive areas of Rio Grande do Sul southwestern border are in sandification process. The native forest species use may be an alternative for revegetation of these areas. The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth of Tabebuia chrysotricha and Leucaena leucocephala seedlings under different vermicompost doses in soil under sandification process in Rio Grande do Sul southwestern border. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial (2 x 3); two forest species (Tabebuia chrysotricha and Leucaena leucocephala), three levels of composed substrate with sandy soil and vermicompost (v:v) (0% of vermicompost: 100% of soil; 50% vermicompost: 50% of soil; and 25% of vermicompost: 75% of soil), and with 9 replications. The response to the vermicompostaddition was different between both species. The addition of 25% of vermicompost to sandy soil provides greater growth in seedlings of both Tabebuia chrysotricha and Leucaena leucocephala; however, the Leucaena leucocephala plants had greater height, length and specific root surface area than the Tabebuia chrysotricha in the higher doses of vermicompost added to sandy soil.
