Five new coordination compounds, [Ag 2 (L3) 2 ]·(ClO 4 ) 2 ( 1 ), [Zn(L3)(Cl)]·(ClO 4 )·H 2 O ( 2 ) [Zn 2 (L3)(Cl) 4 ] ( 3 ), [Cu(L3)(Cl)]·(Cl)·2H 2 O ( 4 ) and [Cd(L3)(Cl)(H 2 O)]·(ClO 4 )·H 2 O ( 5 ), with the tripodal ligand N 1 -(2-amino-ethyl)-N 1 -pyridin-3-ylmethyl-ethane- 1,2-diamine (L3) have been synthesized. Interestingly, coordination compound 1 shows a dinuclear structure, coordination compounds 2 , 4 and 5 display 1D zig-zag chain structures, and coordination compound 3 exhibits an uncommon 1D chain structure.
