- W2023559161 abstract "To assess oxygen consumption rates (OCR) of human embryos before, during and after cytokinesis, correlating OCR with division timing, using an incubator with microsensors and time-lapse system(ES-C). Retrospective cohort study. We analyzed 575 embryos cultured 72 up to hours. Our experience defined optimal timing ranges related with higher implantation potential for cleavage to two cells t2(24.6-28.2h post-ICSI), three cells t3(35.6-40.6h),four cells t4(36.6-41.9h) and five cells t5(49.5-56.7h). Embryo OCR were measured by the microelectrode of ES-C. We studied OCR on the exact moment of the different cleavages, defined as embryo morphokinetic parameters (EMP). Moreover OCR were analyzed relative to the time of cytokinesis. The statistical analysis was realized by ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. We observed a significant inverse linear correlation between the levels of OCR and the EMP. In relation with t2 and t5 similar results were obtained depending on the division occurred inside or outside of optimal range: 5.11 fmol/sec(CI95% 5.06-5.16) and 4.97 fmol/sec (CI95% 4.90-5.04)(P<0.018) for t2, and analyzing t5 : 4.42 fmol/sec (CI95% 4.33-4.51) and 4.10 fmol/sec(CI95% 4.02-4.19) respectively(P<0.001).Differences in OCR between silent and active cleavage periods changed substantially among the different events from the first cleavage(T2) to cleavage to 5 cells(T5).Table 1Oxygen Consumption Rates according to timing optimal rangesOCR [fmol/sec ]Optimal range to T2Out of T2 rangeP-valueOptimal range to T5Out of T5 rangeP-valueBefore cytonikesis5.685.240.0094.934.77NSAfter cytokinesis5.305.11NS4.614.82NSInterphase5.084.960.0494.354.040.001 Open table in a new tab OCR from individual embryos combined with time-lapse analysis revealed important differences when cytokinesis occurred earlier and when the divisions were carried out inside the optimal ranges. Combining time-lapse technology with microsensors we are providing a promising tool to improve selection before transfer." @default.
