To evaluate the performance of the Finnish diabetes risk score (FINDRISC [DRS]) as a screening tool for the identification of dysglycemia. The DRS, a simple self-administered questionnaire, was completed for 1000 patients who underwent a 2-h oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). The optimal DRS cutoff was calculated by applying the area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curve method. The receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve showed that, with a cutoff of 13 in women and 11 in men, the sensitivity of FINDRISC in detecting individuals with diabetes was 68% and the specificity 64% (AUROC=0.64 [95% CI: 0.60–0.68]). The sensitivity and specificity for the detection of dysglycemia were 86% and 41%, respectively (AUROC=0.67 [95% CI: 0.64–0.70]). We conclude that the FINDRISC had a low performance when it is applied to other population than Finland, as in North Africa in our study." @default.
