Abstract NGC 2420 appears to be a galactic cluster with at least 500 members brighter than V = 19.0 mag. The cluster main sequence seems to have a width of 0.3 mag in the color-magnitude diagram, and a few members may be in the Hertasprung gap region of this diagram. The stars show an ultraviolet excess - B) = 0.09 mag but very little interstellar reddening with color excesses E( ) = 0.01, E( U-B) = 0.01 mag. The evolutionary deviation method of Johnson gives an (unreddened) distance modulus of 11.9 + 0.2 mag and an age of 1.6 X 10 years for the cluster. The cluster main-sequence luminosity function increases steadily to M = 7 mag. NGC 2420 may provide additional evidence for the dependence of degree of ultraviolet excess on distance above the galactic plane.
