The present work presents experimental results for the high-pressure phase equilibrium of the quaternary systems carbon dioxide + water + acetic acid + sodium chloride and carbon dioxide + water + acetic acid + sodium acetate for temperatures from (313 to 353) K and pressures between (6 and 16) MPa. The molality of the salts was varied between (0.3 and 1.5) mol/kg for sodium chloride and between (0.5 and 3) mol/kg for sodium acetate, respectively. The investigations were performed with an experimental arrangement based on the continuous flow technique. Both salts show a distinguished influence on the composition of the coexisting phases when compared to the salt-free system carbon dioxide + water + acetic acid, as they reveal “salting-out” and “salting-in” effects on acetic acid." @default.
