The acute symptoms are inhibited by the long-acting octapeptide analog of somatostatin, octreotide (SMS-201-995) (2). Musculoskeletal symptoms have been reported (3) in patients with the carcinoid syndrome, although this problem has not been widely recognized. We describe three patients with the carcinoid syndrome in whom treatment with octreotide was followed by resolution of their musculoskeletal symptoms.Patient 1A white woman born in 1920 had metastatic carcinoid tumor noted as an incidental...References1.
