- W2024147730 abstract "Abstract The phosphorescent decays of the triplet state in acetone and adamantanone are observed by the photolysis of frozen methylcyclohexane solutions of tetramethyldioxetane and adamantylideneadamantanedioxetane respectively. The photolyses with N 2 laser and xenon lamp pulses at or below 77 K are compared with the phosphorescence of the respective ketones photoexcited under similar conditions. The sublevel decay times in both ketones are typically 0.5, 5 and 500 ms and the ratios of the corresponding initial intensities are typically 1 : 0.1 : 0.003. The kinetic results, which are similar in the decay of glyoxal, and the phosphorescence spectra, which depend on the sublevel under observation, were the same in chemiexcitation as in photoexcitation. The results indicate that the only source of triplet ketone in the dioxetane photolysis is through intersystem crossing from the excited singlet state of the ketone. No evidence is found for a metastable intermediate form of the dioxetane in the photochemistry." @default.
