- W202426157 abstract "The elderly population growth is a phenomenon which can be observed in a worldly range and is of great importance for public policies and for business strategies. The marketing professionals should be aware, creating strategies to meet this new market segment. Therefore, this work was carried out with the objective of evaluating the feeding consumption behavior of the elderly in the city of Lavras, MG (Brazil). More specifically, it was aimed to seek both the profile and the feeding consumption of that public. The (adapted) Gains’ model was used as a research procedure, for the analyses of the elderly consumer behavior, considering the three categories: food, individual and environment. The sample was 115 consumers. The data were obtained by means of a survey and analyzed by using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) software, version 15.0. For the analyses of the data, descriptive statistics were used; and, for the inferential results, the Analyses of Variance (ANOVA) was used. It was verified, by means of the results, that the elderly do their most necessary and basic food shopping in supermarkets, since these present a diverse portfolio. It was also observed that the price and the nutritional quality of the food are attributes considered important in the moment of purchasing. In addition, more than half of the interviewed revealed to be increasingly concerned about health and to practice physical exercises regularly. Although the results of the present research cannot be generalized for the whole population, it should be highlighted that they allow to marketing professionals to understand the elderly consumers -interviewed as a group-, who must be considered and observed especially, since they have specific feeding habits and standards." @default.
