- W2024261696 abstract "We study the problem of labelling the bound states created in a strong external electrostatic field when this field is so intense that the notion of Fermi energy which separates the electron and positron levels disappears. The detailed study of this problem is made in the framework of a simple model which, as a consequence, allows the discovery of several difficulties. Firstly the old Furry-Oppenheimer prescription is sometimes ambiguous because of a resurgence phenomenon. This ambiguity can be solved, in principle, by a continuation of the poles of the S-function in the complex energy plane when deforming the potential. However, this follow-up of poles is sometimes impossible because of a phenomenon of run-away to infinity. We propose a new prescription which is both unambiguous and easy to handle numerically. This solution is generalized to a large class of potentials." @default.
