- W2024449950 abstract "The Ms temperature and the yield strength of austenite at Ms temperature, σ0.2(Ms), have been measured for five Fe-Ni-C alloys with various compositions. The solution strengthening of austenite at Ms can be expressed as σ0.2(Ms), kg/mm2 = 2.64131 + 348.33Xc + 57.8729XNi, and the effects of carbon and nickel contents on Ms temperature can be shown as Ms(K) = 829 − 8647.5Xc − 1765.8XNi. The linear relationship between Ms and σ0.2(Ms) can be written as σ0.2(Ms) = 21.4 − 0.033Ms(°C). These equations indicate that the solution strengthening of austenite at Ms acts as the resistance to martensite transformation and that a linear relationship exists not only between σ0.2(Ms) and Ms, but also between σ0.2(Ms) and the driving force for martensite transformation. As the substructure of martensite depends on the nickel and carbon contents in an alloy, a schematic sketch showing the effect of σ0.2(Ms) on the morphology of martensite in Fe-Ni-C alloys is developed through the work of Magee and Davies. Based on this view, the relationship between σ0.2(Ms) and the critical resolved shear stress may be sketched, which interprets the formation of dislocations and twin martensite." @default.
