- W2024554382 abstract "Abstract By means of in-situ high-voltage electron microscopy the radiation damage caused by high-dose irradiations with 1 MeV electrons in Ag, Cu, and Ni as well as in dilute and concentrated AgZn and CuAg alloys is investigated over a wide range of irradiation temperatures Tirr with special attention to spatial ordering of defect clusters. The pure metals and the dilute alloys (Ag-0.26at%Zn, Ag-0.17at%Cu) show Tirr ranges (Ag: 150–280 K, Cu: 170–290 K, Ni: 380–480 K, alloys: 170–260 K) in which at irradiation doses Φ of the order of magnitude 1026 e-m-2 simple cubic lattices of stacking-fault tetrahedra (SFT) are observed with Φ-independent lattice constants. It is shown that this may be understood as a self-organization phenomenon in an open, highly dissipative system. A homogeneous-nucleation model based on the propagation of dynamic crowdions in 〈110〉 directions and self-interstitial migration in recovery stage III accounts very well for the observations. At somewhat higher Tirr SFT arrays along 〈100〉 are formed which appear to have been nucleated inhomogeneously." @default.
