- W2025101951 abstract "The energy loss of 1300–2610 keV 4He ions in 1.99 μm Havar, 2.72 μm nickel, 10.87 μm Kapton and in 3.68 μm, 6.83 μm and 7.30 μm aluminized (40 nm Al) Mylar foils have been determined. Good agreement with the calculated values obtained by using Bragg's rule and the Ziegler semiempirical parameters was found in the Havar and nickel cases. Maximum deviations of 1% from the semiempirical curves were observed. In the case of the Kapton and Mylar foils, however, maximum deviations of even 8% for Kapton and 13% for Mylar were obtained. By using appropriate approximations the stopping power values from the thick foil energy loss data were determined for Havar, nickel and Mylar. The Mylar stopping power was found to be independent of the foil thicknesses used. The stopping data are compared with the available literature values. The applicability of the foil materials as exit foils in external beam setups are discussed." @default.
