The anomalous optical absorption band at 2.5 eV is interpreted as an electromagnetic resonance within the pores of the sample. It is reproduced by an effective medium theory where the pores are modeled as very flat empty spheroids. The adsorption of pyridine is the cause of a change in the optical absorption. A time-resolved study of the reflectivity indicates that the pyridine molecules diffuse into the pores of the sample." @default.
