- W2025384697 abstract "The activities of DNA nucleotidyltransferase (deoxynucleoside triphosphate: DNA deoxynucleotidyltransferase, EC 2.7.7.7) and DNAase I (deoxyribonucleate oligonucleotidohydrolase, EC 3.1.4.5) from control cells and from cells infected with herpes simplex virus have been measured in soluble cell fractions. Infection with the virus is followed by an initial decline in activity of DNA nucleotidyltransferase and then by an increase above the control cell level. At the same time, substantial DNAase I activity appears and reaches a maximum 8–12 h after infection. The increases of activity of the two enzymes precede the elaboration of infective virus. The greatest percent increases in DNA nucleotidyltransferase activities at 5.5 h after infection are found in the nuclei (90%) and in the mitochondria-microsome fraction (195%) of the cells. The percent increase in DNAase I activity at the same time was highest in the nuclei (161%) although it was also high in the mitochondria-microsome fraction (105%) and in the cell sap (107%). The increase of DNA nucleotidyltransferase activity after infection is not due to the introduction of known stimulatory factors, while that of DNAase I is probably not attributable to removal of DNAase I inhibitor." @default.
