- W2025676827 abstract "We present a microscopic Langevin Equation that describes the dynamics of a group of interacting polymers in a melt, for samples with increasing chain length, covering the whole regime from the unentangled to the entangled dynamics. The confinement of the dynamics due to the presence of entanglements is accounted for by a potential acting between a pair of monomers belonging to different, but interpenetrating, chains. This potential is zero until the distance between those two monomers reaches a characteristic value, which in the conventional reptation model corresponds to the so-called tube diameter. At that distance, the pair of monomers experiences an effective constraint potential, which then decays following diffusive dynamics, as the two entangled chains inter-diffuse and their dynamics becomes progressively less correlated. The same potential acts on both unentangled and entangled polymer chains, but short chains are not affected as they relax faster than they experience the presence of the constraint potential. The approach shows good agreement with experimental data in both the unentangled and the entangled regimes.
