- W2026409845 abstract "Scattered flash rainfalls occurring in the triangle desert of central plain of Iran have beenproducing flood flow which could cause severe damage and may be wasted without any exploitation. In order to harvest the flood flow and increase the soil moisture content, and replenish the aquiferdiversion dams were constructed in the flood reach aiming to divert water to the canals which woulddistribute the flood over the whole area by storm water harvesting project of Ministry of Jehad e-Agriculture in Northern Varamin Aquifer, 40 km east of the city of Tehran. A one-dimensionalcontinuity equation of non-steady state flow in unsaturated porous media and the momentumequation (Darcy's law) were used. The Green-Ampt equation was also used for the determination ofinfiltration balance in the soil under pounding and non pounding flow condition. Soil moisturechanges were evaluated after watering the canals by SWATRE computer model. According to theresults the exchangeable moisture discharge decreased with the depth per unite area. At the depthbelow 60 cm, soil moisture tended to move downward rather than moving up to the soil surface.Moisture flux at this depth was kept out of evaporation and had been steadier when compared withthe moisture level near the soil surface. Results also showed that the moisture content up to the 60cm depth is less steady because of low soil suction head, high evaporation rate and infiltration rate.Soil suction head had not exceeded 0.22 bars. Moisture flux fluctuated between 2.58 to 5.85cm/hrwhich had been the highest flux rate imposed on the upper layer. Suction head and the moisture fluxrate were reduced after the non pounding condition prevailed. The maximum soil moisture flux wasabout 2.58 cm/hr per unit area at the lower depth. Based on the result of this study, it could beconcluded that the lower soil layers had been more capable of storing the harvested storm waterthan that of depth near the soil surface, which is indicated potential rate of recharging the aquifer." @default.
