- W2027236764 abstract "Abstract The standard heats of combustion for the dibenzoylmethane complexes of the transition metal species scandium(III) through cobalt(III) (with the exception of titanium(III)) have been determined using a static oxygen bomb calorimeter. Corrections of the data to standard states were carried out using Hubbard, Scott and Waddington's modification of Washburn's methods. The heats of sublimation of the complexes and of the ligand were determined from vapour pressure measurements. Use of these data in a thermochemical cycle allowed the bond energies for the homolytic and heterolytic cleavage of the metal to oxygen bonds to be calculated. The lattice energies for the complexes were also calculated. The heterolytic bond energies, the lattice energies and the standard heats of formation of the complexes varied with atomic number in a manner consistent with ligand field theory." @default.
