- W2027865720 abstract "Personalisation is being pressed as a key driver for changing how social welfare is planned and delivered. Substantial progress is required by 2011 and social care organisations are working through the implications of what they have to do to achieve this, much attention being on technologies such as personal budgets. The policy gives heightened importance to empowering people to plan, commission and manage their own support arrangements if they want to, perhaps with independent advice. An aspiration is to prevent people from having to become clients of the social care system as the only gateway into receiving state funded support. This article approaches the task of developing Personalisation from a different direction. It sees the helping relationship as central to the best interests of many people eligible for welfare support and considers the nature of this relationship from a psychodynamic perspective with some amendments from political thinking. It argues that the approach used in organisational development needs to be sufficient to the task (of transformation) and points to complexity and network theory and collaborative exploration as indicating the nature of this task, indicating the new ways of thinking and working that are needed if Personalisation is to achieve the scale and depth of the envisaged transformation." @default.
