- W2028045502 abstract "Abstract This study describes an investigation of the work experiences and career success of managerial and professional women. It is the largest study of its kind ever undertaken in Canada. Specific findings on the effects of participation in, and perceived usefulness of, particular training and development activities on the career success of managerial and professional women are presented. The data for these analyses came from anonymous questionnaires completed by 267 female graduates of a single school of business. Women who participated in more training and development activities, and women who rated these training and development activities as more useful, were more career satisfied and committed, and were more optimistic about future career progress. Relationships with sponsors and mentors were seen as particularly useful training and development activities. Résumé Il s'agit d'une investigation sur les expériences de travail et la réussite professionnelle des femmes cadres ou exerçant une profession libérale. C'est la plus vaste étude en son genre jamais entreprise au Canada. L'article présente des conclusions précises sur l'utilité que ces femmes perçoivent de leur participation à des activités de perfectionnement et de formation particulières ainsi que sur les effets de cette participation sur lew réussite. Les données de ces analyses proviennent de questionnaires anonymes remplis par 267 diplômées d'une même école de commerce. Les femmes qui avaient le plus participé aux activités de formation et de perfectionnement et qui en valorisaient le plus l'utilité, témoignaient le plus d'engagement et de satisfaction professionnels. Elles envisageaient aussi leur ascension professionnelle avec le plus d'optimisme.
