- W2028251019 abstract "Abstract Six children ranging in age from 3 years 10 months to 6 years 3 months (Mean 5 years 1 month) and diagnosed as language delayed on a battery of tests were administered three months of language training using the Interactive Language Development Teaching program (Lee et al., 197S). Pretest and posttest results reported an average of 11 months' growth in linguistic skills during the remedial period. Further analysis of each child's progress in relation to the effectiveness of the goal‐oriented structured‐language teaching program was carried out. It was found that the children advanced to a higher, more complex linguistic level on only 33% of the language goals specifically taught while they evidenced twice as much growth (67%) in non‐goal language areas which were not specifically taught. The overall effectiveness of structured language teaching was positive. However, it is necessary to identify and analyze those factors which could influence the effectiveness of structured language programming with language delayed children." @default.
