- W2028565611 abstract "The DC electrical conductivity of a weakly disordered ring, in the presence of a magnetic flux phi penetrating the sample, is studied as a function of the ring's width w, assumed to be much smaller than its radius R. The electrons are assumed to be scattered elastically by impurities (via long-range potentials) and elastically or inelastically by acoustic phonons, or to interact in the presence of impurities. Near zero temperature, the conductivity oscillates with period phi = phi 0=h/e despite the presence of the harmonic phi 0/2 for weak magnetic fields, and it oscillates with period phi 0/2 at higher temperatures. For w<<R, the amplitude of both oscillations decreases with increasing w. It is shown analytically that at strong magnetic fields the period of the oscillations is phi 0. The influence of the finite thickness of the rings is taken into account. For a series of N rings, with slight variations in the radius or the width or both, the amplitude of the phi 0 oscillations decreases with N whereas that of the phi 0/2 oscillations is independent of N. The calculated amplitudes are within the observed order of magnitude for both metals and semiconductors." @default.
