- W2029156675 abstract "Parts of evaporated NiZr multilayer films were irradiated prior to annealing with 30 MeV sulphur ions with fluences Φ from 1 × 1015 to 2 × 1016 S cm−2 at low temperatures. From resistivity measurements at various states of the solid state amorphization reaction it is concluded that the reaction is decelerated in the irradiated parts. This was confirmed by simultaneous in situ conductivity measurements on irradiated and unirradiated parts of a sample and was cross-checked with reference samples. An analysis of X-ray diffraction data shows tensile stresses of the as-prepared films parallel to the substrates derived from significant deviations of the Zr(100) and Zr(002) reflections from the bulk values. The irradiation partially releases these stresses, which are further relaxed during the amorphization. This demonstrates that tensile stresses promote the solid state amorphization reaction and shows the influence of slight microstructural changes on the reaction rate." @default.
